I have BA in Mass Communication and Media Studies from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Comm at Arizona State University.
I started running websites in May 2006 when I launched Twin Cities TV Source, which was a blog that covered the TV stations in the Twin Cities. After a few other fansites, I created and ran Carlos Pena NOW and HitZoneOnline.com. My work has been featured on AXS.com and Examiner.com. Currently, I'm a digital content producer for a television station in Denver.
On this website you will find my experience as well as articles that I have written. Those articles include, but not limited to, news stories and opinion pieces.
Below is a list of my experience.

>>Twin Cities TV Source and Other Starter Fansites
On May 13, 2006, I was only in middle school when I launched Twin Cities TV Source - a website dedicated to providing people in the Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN metro area a place to find out and talk about what was happening in the world of local TV. A few years into it he expanded the site to cover Twin Cities radio as well. The site quickly became popular with consistent updates that created loyal visitors that went to the website on a daily basis. However, upon moving to Denver it was difficult to continue covering Twin Cities media and the website closed on August 26, 2010 - much to the disappointment of loyal visitors.
During this time I also ran two fansites for two popular Disney Channel television shows at the time, Phil of the Future and The Suite Life of Zach & Cody. Both websites quickly gained popularity by fans of both shows as I provided daily updates, programming alerts, and in depth details about the show and cast members around the websites. Both websites were created on the simple Webs.com platform.
>> Launching KWOF-FM (92.5 The Wolf) Facebook Page
Upon moving to Denver, I didn't lose my love for local radio and television. I love country music and discovered that KWOF-FM (92.5 The Wolf), a country radio station in Denver and had zero presence on social media at the time, Facebook in particular. So, I took it upon myself to start a fanpage for the station on Facebook and it quickly gained traction and eventually became the official page for the radio station on Facebook. I ran the Facebook page with the airstaff and web team at the station for a couple of months before giving complete control to the radio station. While running the page, I created nightly topics that encouraged listeners to respond and interact with the radio station. I even helped the station make a smooth transition and change of topic on the page after listeners were outraged when a popular radio personality at the station was let go.

>> Carlos Pena NOW
Carlos Pena NOW (CPN) was a fansite created on December 26, 2010 for actor, singer, and songwriter Carlos Pena of the band Big Time Rush. The website started as a Twitter page before becoming so popular that a full website was launched. I managed the in and outs of the website and provided daily updates with his team in addition to creating nightly games that interacted with followers on Twitter. CPN became so popular in such a short amount of time that in under a year it became the largest Big Time Rush related fansite on the website, over taking a website that had the market all to themselves for awhile before that. The website and Twitter page became the go-to website for everything related to the boy band. As of April 2014, CPN has over 70,000 Twitter followers and continues to be a trustworthy source of information for Big Time Rush fans. CPN was created and managed with the simple Weebly web platform and pushed the limits of the free web builder.
>> Examiner.com
>> Examiner.com
In May 2012, I was accepted to be a writer for Examiner.com - a Denver based website that served markets around the country with contributors. I was the Denver Pop Music Examiner for the website meaning I wrote professional news articles that about pop music artists and try to relate it back to Denver in some way. When I published consistently, I was one of the top Examiners in Denver and sometimes one of the top Examiners in the music category around the United States. I also had articles featured on AXS.com. Examiner closed in July 2016.

Similar to Examiner, I wrote professional music news articles, lists, and reviews from any genre of music. When Examiner closed in July 2016, I was no longer a contributor for AXS. My articles remain on the website.

>> HZO - HitZoneOnline.com
HZO at HitZoneOnline.com was a entertainment website on the WordPress web platform that provided updates on music, TV, movies, and celebrity news generally aimed toward men & women ages 16-26. I ran the day to day operation of the website with daily news articles, ran social media, made sure the website ran smoothly, and trained new writers on how to use the WordPress platform. HZO related to the fans because we were fans of the people we wrote about. Instead of just giving you the news, we set out to create conversation and gave visitors the news in a way they might be thinking if you read the same update on another website. In short, we gave music, TV, movie, and celebrity news in a positive way that didn't focus on the ridiculous rumors or negative headlines or just things the typical fan doesn’t care about like most websites do.
We launched in August 2012 via Weebly with two friends and it was relaunched in September 2013 on WordPress and had a loyal visitor base up until the end. In addition to news articles, I also wrote feature pieces, opinion pieces, reviews, and did some interviews/photography and graphics for the website. The website officially came to an end in November 2014.
